Ethan’s Story:From Ivy League to Ink
My path to tattooing wasn’t exactly traditional, but then again, neither are the designs I create.
I graduated from an Ivy League university with a degree in Business and Marketing, and for a while, I followed the corporate path. But even as I worked in offices and built campaigns, I kept feeling the pull toward something more creative, more personal, more hands-on.
I’ve always been someone who preferred sketching in the margins, obsessing over details, and losing hours in the creative process. And while I respect the structure of the business world, I realized what I really wanted was to build something of my own – something that merged art, design, and storytelling in a way that felt meaningful.
The Artisty and Community
Tattooing became that outlet. I started studying the craft and apprenticing, where I fell in love with the artistry and the community. Over the years, I honed my skills across different styles, from the bold lines of American Traditional to the intricate forms of Japanese.

As An Introvert
But as an introvert, I also found that I did my best work in quieter spaces – where I could connect with clients one-on-one, focus deeply on the creative process, and deliver work that was thoughtful, polished, and highly personal.
That’s why I founded TheTattooBuilder – to create a space where people can get custom tattoo designs without the pressure of the shop.
